Hi, my name is Michael Ward and I like to point cameras at wildlife.
I can't explain why I like doing this, but it is the driving force that gets me out of bed and out into nature.

I'm creating all kinds of digital content focused on wildlife, be it photos, videos, vlogs, audio recordings. Anything that allows me to capture moments in nature digitally.
My goal is to transition into being able to focus on wildlife content full time. Eventually I would like to be shooting for documentaries. In the meantime I get in my practice as much as I can, and am sharing with you my steps along the way.

Puffed up Killdeer pecking it's way along the bank just in front of me on this brisk winter morning. Very cool, not as loud as it usually is. Definitely just searching for some food and trying to survive, I like these birds and I think it's quite a different side of them from how I usually see them. Welcome to the wildlife filmmaking and photography channel of Michael Ward. I learn what kinds of wildlife I find and do my best to identify it. Nature documentaries, especially those by David Attenborough and his teams, were a big inspiration to switch to video recording. I'm still learning every day and doing my best to share that on the channel. I plan to travel more, as I currently have to work a full-time job. This is something I do whenever I have free time on the weekends. But I plan to start expanding and doing overnight trips and traveling the world to see as much wildlife as I can. Thick Fog This Morning as I'm out Recording Birds
Something happened with the chest camera, well not something like I don't know. I swapped the angle to get a really wide shot the last time I used it, then forgot to swap it back so the stabilization wasn't turned on. I used very little of that footage and there won't be a Come Along for this day. It's too much and gives me a headache to try and watch it, even trying to fix it in post didn't help as you'll see in the video. But besides that, had a fun time out! You'll see what I saw and what photos I managed to get out of this nice brisk winter outing in the snow. Happy to be walking around in snow again. Now we're getting snow – Bird Photography Vlog
I spent a few hours birdwatching, so of course I had a second camera getting a wide angle of the landscape. It's a fairly peaceful morning. Brisk though, quite cold actually. Downright freezing. It was below freezing, though it did warm up throughout the day. No snow as of this recording in mid January. Just the Birds
Although not common this far out west, and certainly not in winter. After checking multiple bird books, this is got to be the Eastern and not Western Bluebird. Quite happy that it came by and landed on a tree right in front of where I was set up filming this day. Got some beautiful footage of it while it was hanging out warming itself in the sun. Making a few slight changes to these videos, as I have done before over the last few years and I'm sure I'll continue to do so. Back to Bird-watching with the Big Cameras
The clouds come out, so the wildlife stays put. Which isn't ideal for the birdwatching photography we're hoping to do. But I set up the action cam and let it run for about an hour as I walked up and down this park. Eventually, thankfully, the sun came back out and so too did the birds.
